Hi have a C3 cachet. There is a grinding sound from the front drivers side. I have checked the wheel and it has no play in it. Revealed are free and working. I handicapped up the gearbox. The noise is still there and increases with acceleration. Any ideas.

Hi and welcome.
I assume the grinding noise is apparent while the car moves but disappears when you stop? Is it worse when the car steers more in one direction than the other?
There is not much in the front end to cause grinding under those circumstances. I would still lean toward the wheel bearing, despite it not having any play when you test the wheel.
You can only inspect the entire front end and look for something that doesn't look right. Stuff dragging on the ground, loose stuff getting caught etc.
I have had stones and sticks get caught between the brake shield and the brake disc. Just keep looking, I guess, or have a mechanic look at it.

Definitely check for stones, Ive had some awful grating sounds, thinking a wheel is about to fall off only to find a stone behind the brake disc.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

I have a similar issue with my C3. Its a 2011 model which I bought back at the end of February this year.
I wasn't until about late summer/early Autumn that I started to hear a grinding sound coming from the front drivers side when accelerating, but this was only very occasionally.
In the last month, it has made the grinding sound every time I drive it. It sounds at if the noise is coming from underneath or around the foot pedal area. Everything is working fine and nothing is hanging from underneath the car.
I only tend to drive the car at weekends usually, so I don't know if itss due to the car sitting idle for long periods, but I have a feeling it's something else.

Hi
Just looking for anything hanging down won't be good enough.
It needs to go up on a ramp and probably any under engine tray removed for inspection of the inner drive shaft CV joints and if there is one, the intermediate drive shaft bearing.
An experienced mechanic may even be able to diagnose the noise from a test drive because they can hear if it comes from road speed or engine speed and more precisely what could be causing it.

As the car is used occasionally, it is possible that there is some corrosion on the disc which causes grating sounds on brake application. After a few brake application the grating should stop, I have 2 cars and our 19 reg C3 occasionally sits for a week. I frequently get grating after standing.
