Having a bit of a mare doing what I thought was a straight forward job, cant find the filler hole on the gear box to top the oil up. Theres a hole with no bolt in it which I suspect it may be, god knows why its not in there. Picture to follow

Hi Markcoombs88

There are 2 options of manual gearbox fitted to the C3 Diesels for your year MA5 or BE5

Yours could be the BE5 because its not the 8v, so I would expect the fill point to be where the arrow is (obscured by the drop link bar)
gear oil fill BE5
gear oil fill BE5
The BE4/5 and MA5 take a specific Total Transmission Gear 8 75W80 (from here) which replaces the Total BV mentioned in the Haynes Manual.

If you have the 16v version (of the diesels) then its an MA5 and the layout is different
29 Is the fill point for oil on the MA5 gearbox found on the C3

There is no bolt in that location, I can clearly see the drainage bolt as per the pictures you sent but no filling point... The reason I am topping up the gear oil is a few days ago the car has made a stange sound while driving sort of like a whine like its an electric engine. The clutch has a very high biting point and needs replacing asap so not sure whether it is finally giving up the ghost...

If you can PM me your VIN, I will look to see what you should have fitted to your car. I won't be able to look until tomorrow though :(

It may be easier with a torch and more photots from a slightly different angle?

I won't do any harm to refill. Oil can leak from the drive shaft seals over time.
