C3 2014 1.0 Petrol 5speed manual gearbox.

Can someone tell me the gearbox oil level capacity please?

I have just changed the o/s front suspension leg and whilst doing this the driveshaft popped out of the gearbox and I lost quite a large amount of gearbox/transmission oil. The gearbox does not have a level plug(obviously filled for life) but does have a drain plug.
So I propose to drain the oil and fill through the breather on the top of the gearbox. Various sources are suggested different amounts of oil, some say 2litres. Just need to be sure of the correct amount.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi shoestring

You need to identify which gear-box you have because the 'MA5' takes 2 litres but the BE4/5 takes 1.8 litres, both use the Total Transmission Gear 8 75W80 Oil - available here.

Thanks for the info Arfur.
How do I identify which gearbox I have?......Makes you wonder though if 0.2 litre difference (2litre or 1.8litre) would make much difference anyway.

Haynes says the gearbox code is stamped on either the front of the clutch housing, or on the front face of the transmission housing.

Thanks for all the help.
Couldn't find any model number on gearbox front face of box.
Now filled with 2litres via breather on the top of the box.

We hae two C3s in our family & both have had the front springs replaced as they have snapped. In changing them a little oil came out of the gearboxes. On mine quite a lot appeared o come out so drained it & then refilled. I measured how much I got out when I drained it & it was over 2 litres! On my wife's car it didn't appear to lose a lot so didn't top it up intially. However, the gearbox driveshaft seals started to leak so I had to replace them. Again I measured how much oil I got out of the gearbox, again over 2 litres! When I refilled I put in 2 litres.

Well zebedee after reading your message you got me a little worried about the amount I had put in.

So having now consulted the people who should know the correct amount...Citroen UK, they say say that for my car gearbox, C3 2014 1.0litre VTR+, the capacity is 1.9litres if refilling and 2.1litres for a new completely empty gearbox.
So having put in 2litres I think it should be ok.
