Hi, i bought a car, and didn't test that wipers doesn't work, only at max speed position.

What can be wrong? if fuses-i guess they won't work at all.

Also there is some glitch - if i turn on max speed-it works, but if i want to turn off - it stucks at the position when i switched off - it doesn't' go back to bottom.

i hope this would help somehow.

THANKS. this forum is the best for Citroens, really hope for any help :)

The first possition on the switch is intermittant and as such uses the first speed part of the motor.
I think one of two things could be going on.
The wiper motor might have broken on the first speed, you could check this by rigging up a 12 volt supply direct to the motor and see if it runs on the first speed.

Or the switch is faulty, that's part of the coms 2000 unit located behind the steering wheel and contains both stalk switches.
The fact that the motor runs at all rules out the fuses, as the supply for all speeds is the same fuse.

Quite a common part to give this sort of trouble, not the easiest part to change though :?

You can find out a little bit more about the com2000, here :)

thank you for replay!

Because wiper works on highest speed (the bottom position) means that motor works, fuses too. I didn't knew about fuses, i was thinking maybe they used 2 fuses for this. So this lets us to think that problem maybe with some contacts.
BUT then why wipers don't go down on 0 position? maybe there is more going on then only some rusty/dirty connectors. :(..

Sad i don't have any screwdriver to take of parts from steering wheel to see connectors :)

Maybe you know what type of bolts holds the plastic parts which hides the steering weel internals?
Thanks.

PS: my car doesnt have cruise control and so on... so maybe the COM2000 will be some easier version..COM1000 :)

Before you spend any money, try reconnecting any assosiated connections you can see and see if the spindles havent seized.
Seized spindles could be the reason they only work at high speed. (greater force).

Not too tricky to do according to martinbingo in his post:

Sorry, there is a com2002 for more advanced cars, unfortunately not having the cruise control option installed doesn't make things any less complicated.

You need a torx type tool to remove the cowling to get access to the com2000 unit, with the cowling removed you can see the make and model number of the particular com2000 unit you have. Some can be repaired, others can only be replaced. See here for the repair service and to identify if yours is a possible for repair.

A set of Extra Long Offset Torx Keys on Amazon are suitable for removing the plastic parts held on by torx, including the cowling over the com2000, they are quite cheap and a good beginning to your collection of torx drivers.

thanks for answers, will try today to unscrew it.
I'm glad my motor is ok, cause it would cost 1/10th of my car's price :)

UPDATE: well...finally saw this com 2000 but in fact my car uses com 2002 and it's bit different than 2000

can i disassemble it (take the wiper swith off) without removing the steering wheel?

Not that I am aware of. See the pictures in the com2000 link - here and you can see why not.

com2002 and com2000 are to be treated in the same way as each other, it is all the same sort of stuff.

The relay for the front wipers is in the BSM module, which is the 'fuse box in the engine bay', there aren't any user replaceable relays in there :(

But the BSM is quite an easy swap in/swap out that doesn't need pairing or programming for the recipient. The BSM is used across several Citroen model and it doesn't have to be a C3 to be the donor, just same numbers on the BSM.

2002 to 2006 engine bay fuse box layout diagram

find the BSM module on eBay

The Haynes manual for the Citroen C3 on Amazon has very clear diagrams for the wiring to the BSM, BSI and wipers, along with most of the other non bus electrical circuits. Well worth the money if you are testing circuits ;)
