Hi all,
I've noticed recently that when I turn either my wheels left or right just after switch on there is a clunking sound coming from the right hand side front suspension.
To give a literal example, when I drive off my driveway (slight decline) and turn left/right there is a clunk?
It sounds like 2 metal components bashing.
However it only seems to do it after the car has been sat for a day or 2 etc. When I turn whilst normal driving there is no sound?
Any ideas?
Cheers

Hi
It is difficult to tell from the description, but I guess something is either loose it worn.
Getting the car up on a lift and inspecting would be a start. It is so much easier to see what is going in when the car is off the ground and weight is off the wheels.
You can grab suspension components and try to move them or use a lever and this can show movement in the bushes and ball joints. Which could well be responsible for the knock.

The most common failure is the upper front shock mount but it's also the easiest to spot. Pop the bonnet and try to move the upper shock retainer (the round cup-shaped thing with a big nut in the middle of it). If you can move it around by hand-the mount is stuffed.
Other bits that can cause problems are the drop link ball joints, the control arm bushes and the hub ball joint but you'll need to jack the car up to test/inspect them.
