Hi & sorry for my weak english!

As I say in the Subject title, I can't turn the fog lights off using the COM 2000 switch of my 2006' C3. To turn them off I have to turn off ALL the lights...

I haven't found info about the matter, but I saw the many problems these switches have after certain amount of use. Ok, but in ten years I have used the fog lights 2 or 3 times as much!!

Anyway, I could dismount the first section of the stick (position/headlights) and checked that that the contacts there were ok... and I have used the headlights switch much more times than the fog lights!!

As I said, I just could dismount the first section of the stick. I didn't discover how to deal with the next section. Also I have seen photos of these parts isolated and one has a 'dangerous' flat cable which I could unplug easily...

The questions are:
Keeping in mind the little use of the fog switch, could it be another reason (for example, a bug in the car computer)??
Anyone here had the same issue?

Any help will be much appreciated!

Regards!

They are difficult to get apart and difficult to repair. Some have been successful but its just easier to fit a whole COM2000 unit in. You can often find a good deal on the COM2000 here - on ebay.

Yes, the BSM (engine fuse box) module and the BSI (cabin fuse box) both play a part and to diagnose these computer faults you will need a lexia tool like these from here.

There is a lexia tool topic here

Are your front fog lights on and the rear or just the rear?

Are the rear fogs bright like they should be or dim?

Do the fog lights come on without the main lights when you first start the car?

Do the fog lights come on by themselves or do you have to switch them on and its only the OFF that doesn't work?

I suppose it should also be asked 'are you operating the switch correctly to switch them off'?

These are the instructions:
There is a sleeve around the left stalk that rotates around the stalk, this is used to switch on/off the fog lights.

Rotate the switch away from you to switch on the front fog lights, it springs back to its home position,
then rotate it again to switch on the rear fog lights, it springs back to its home position,
to switch off the rear fog lights rotate the switch in the opposite direction (towards you), allow it to return home then
rotate the switch in the opposite direction (towards you) again to switch off the front fog lights.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I knew their existence, but I wanted to know first if the computer play a part on the switching.

That's great!

Both work right.
Are the rear fogs bright like they should be or dim?
They light perfectly bright.
Do the fog lights come on wthout the main lights when you first start the car?
Nope.
Do the fog lights come on by themselves or do you have to switch them on and its only the OFF that doesn't work?
Just the OFF.
it should also be asked 'are you operating the switch correctly to switch them off'?
Of course yes.

Thank you for your time!!!

We had a problem with ours not turning on but would turn off ok so purchased a new stalk. When I took the COM2000 apart to install the new stalk it turned out that the ribbon cable on the original stalk had dirty connections on the end so cleaned them with an pencil eraser and it worked perfectly

They are the computers that are responsible for switching on lights.
