I just bought some safety catchers (£20 used now nicely cleaned up) after my spring broke on my drive and I do not want the same to happen to my new ones at speed as Citroen seemed to think it best not to have fitted any from the factory!

I was wondering where the spring catcher fits exactly. There is a 'battery' shaped cutout see pic 1 that I would have thought was there to allow the reaction rod connector of the shock absorber to go (see green arrow) through but looking at the stock photo from this site it does not. Could of it have been fitted wrong? So how does it fit.

No clues can be assertained from the diagram I found on the web below.

I just want to know just in case it is not obvious once I jack the car. Please look at your car if it was fitted from Citroen or there is any diagrams that show it.

The cut out does go over the drop link mount (labeled reaction connector). There is room for the bolt between the flange and the link mount. That picture is a bit of an optical illusion.
The picture on the car shows the drivers side and the separate picture of the cup is the passenger side (RHD). Note that the "inside" half, the half with the battery shape, has a cut out in the "cup" area and the outside does not.
You will find it only fits one way, on one side, because the lower spring mount on the shock is a peculiar shape.
Tip: if you cant jack both front wheels off the ground at the same time, turn the wheels to gain access to the drop link upper ball joints and remove them with the car on the ground. If you don't, the roll bar will twist, making it very difficult to get the ball joint off the mount.

okay the illusion explains that.

okay I was wondering about this I'll do that as I do not want to jack both wheels.
