If you set the fan to max speed it can be a bit loud.
More energy is used but you probably won't notice that.
Its a great way to 'get you home' and keep the car running after a cooling fault.
If its the cabin fan, it would just get annoying if the fan wouldn't turn off and that can get a bit loud on max, but not cause any other problems
