I have a C3 1.4 Hdi and had access to diagnostics tool today and one error we could not clear was P0495. From what I gathered from google search it means that the voltage reading from the cooling fan is too high. What is most likely to cause this? The fan unit it pretty expensive in my country so I'm hoping it could be something other that the actual fan not working

Hello Christiaan

Does the car drive ok?

Does it overheat?

Can you get the fans to run if you connect it to lexia tool? You are probably best to diagnose this with lexia because it can communicate with the engine ECU to test the fan.

The C3 models have lots of different fans and fan control all dependent on the spec and the fuel type.

Your code reader that only gives a generic P0495 is very basic with no description and no diagnostics. The lexia tool will give you fault diagnosis and information specific to your particular configuration.

Hi. It was done with Delfi diagnistics tool. I dont have lexia and dont know anyone with lexia in my country. (calling all south africans on this forum, if you have kexia tool please contact me hahaha)

Anyway.... Back to the problem, the fan does not turn on....ever, the ac does not work because fan wont turn on. Car never overheats. Fuses are fine and as far as I can tell the relay is fine.

Sounds very much like the fan. It's is very common for these to fail. Internal components on some can be replaced if you can solder or just get another fan. Make sure you get the same one that was originally fitted to be sure it's going to work ok.

This may be some help to you? radiator fan always running, how to repair. Although it has s a different fault, it shows what is inside and what needed changing. You may have something similar?

I also have this error but i ran a test for the GMV with Lexia, and it ran from the low speed to high speed without problem, indeed, lexia said "no fault detected" and the P0495 is a permanent error.
