Ill keep this brief but any help is very much appreciated.

Drivers side headlight not working, main beam same side not working, but dim light is working fine. All lights on passenger side: headlight+mainbeam+dim light all woorking fine.

Checked fuses, seem ok. Just before problem occured, headlight would intermittently work, but then completely stopped working. Mainbeam not working at all now. Ive checked the bulbs, and they work fine. I read about relays, bsi etc but dont know where to go now. Could there be an earthing problem. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum nayanayan

The two main culprits are the BSI and the BSM. They both play a part and are pretty much sealed black boxes.

I would double check the wiring and plug/sockets to see there is no damage or loose connections for the wiring. Then it would be a case of following the circuit diagram found in the C3 Haynes Manual with a voltage tester or Multimeter. There is quite a bit of wiring and the tester will help identify which part is faulty. Hopefully its just a loose plug on the BSI :)

Thank you VERY much for your reply. I did exactly that and took all fuses out again - no problems, then I reset BSI by following instructions - no joy, then I followed the wiring, and tried to find if it were a earthing problem - still no joy. Eventually I cleaned the wire AGAIN, still didn't work, but the bulb wire was looking fine, then I remembered I had another brand new headlight bulb, so I put that in, and waalaa. That started working and the beam lights working now. Really strange! I swear the original bulb (which I only replaced 2 weeks ago) wasn't dodgey. But I just didn't want to take out the bulb again to check. Thank you for your response! Fingers crossed no more trouble!

The easy and obvious stuff should always be tested first, but I know how you feel when when it comes to replacing the headlamp bulbs. Make sure the cover is fitted correctly so the headlight unit doesn't fill up with water ;)
