I have a 1.6 16V 2002 Exclusive and the drivers mirror doesn't fold when you rotate the switch all the way round and also the external temperature doesn't work. Does this sound like a broken wire or something else. My drive is just wide enough to get in the car when parked in the middle so it is a major mission to take off door panels as its involves blocking the pavement.

Hi The Badger,
I would start by where you suggest, with the door panel.
Have a look at this post for removing the door panel (the front and rear are very similar, the front has an extra screw on the side somewhere)

This one has some good pictures of the connectors for the mirrors and the temperature sensor behind the door panel:

But, it could be the mirror control switch affecting the mirror or the mirror motor broken and a separate, unconnected fault with the temperature sensor.
