Hi Andy.
I've not had this problem on a C3 but I have had similar on other makes. In many cars they have done away with the old type push switch which the door pressed against when close, they have been replaced by switch contacts inside the door lock. I'm guessing that this is what you have.
Someone will no doubt confirm this shortly
If it is the case, on many locks you can't get them apart to change contacts (this is a security measure
). You might be faced with replacing the lock if a repair isn't possible.

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

The switches are built into the door solenoid pack, and not a part that can be changed on its own, you will need to change the whole solenoid pack if this is faulty. In many cars they have done away with the old type push switch which the door pressed against when close, they have been replaced by switch contacts inside the door lock. Have a look at these posts to see how to access the door solenoid pack

and what the door solenoid pack looks like (its the last image in the post)

Another suggestion on the problem could be a poor connection or loose plug on the BSI that controls the door lock/unlock/sense.
The arrow points to the plug on the BSI on a 2002 shape, the 2008 will be different, but it gives you an idea.
The BSI is the fuse box in the glove box, you need to hunt for it on the 2008

Or it could just be a mechanical problem where the door doesn't latch closed fully giving the impression to the car that its not closed.
