Can you please help. I was having a problem with the drivers door not locking, but now the door will not open.
Can you please help in finding a way to get the door open?
Then would it be easier to replace the lock or replace the complete door?
If so would the orginal key fob work on the replaced door?
Thank you for taking time to read this. I'm pulling my hair out trying to sort this out. :x

Hi Steve52

That would depend on why the door won't open. Its not going to be easy in any way because the door is designed in a way that it can't be opened without the system working.

There are some pictures and 'how to' topic on removing the door solenoid pack - this is what latches the door closed and keeps is locked or unlocks to allow it to open.

This is the solenoid pack

This is the topic with more pictures

citroen-c3-tips/c3-rear-door-lock-remov ... -t162.html

The solenoid is controlled by the BSI and that can give trouble, and this topic has some info - right at the end.

The trouble is you can only remove the door solenoid with the door open

If its a BSI electrical problem you may be able to run power down the wires to the solenoid pack, as is mentioned in the topic I linked to. But if its a mechanical door solenoid problem you may be able to disassemble the solenoid from within the car, but neither of these are ideal, are going to be time consuming and not a beginner DIY car fixers thing to do.

You don't say if yours has dead locking, if any of the other doors have problems, if its a remote central locking system and if this works on the other doors.

Thanks for the reply.
Using the remote you can hear the click when the door should be open.
But it is just not moving.
lucky enough I do have a donor car, so swapping bits over is not a problem.
That is why I asked if swapping the doors over would be better.
I know it would mean tackling the wire loom.
But the main problem first is getting the bloody door open first.

This could be the solenoid pack is not working on that door.

Swapping doors or swapping solenoids, well, they are both bigish jobs. I would fit a new solenoid pack because putting on a whole door may bring other problems? Its your choice, but this isn't going to be your biggest decision. The link I gave shows what is involved in replacing the solenoid when the door open and you can 'see' what needs to be done when swapping a door by looking at it.

Yes, this is the problem. If the solenoid pack is jammed internally your way in may only be in after disassembling the solenoid pack from within the door. With that broken down (destroyed) there is nothing keeping the door locked. You would then have to fit a new solenoid pack or fit a whole door - both of which are insignificant compare to getting the door open.

When replacing just the front lock barrel with a new one, is it side sensitive? So does it matter whether the place your buying it from says it’s for the left or right? Can it work either side?

Hello Bennyboi23

9170.T8 is for the right

and

9170.T9 is the left.

Not all C3s have locks in both doors.

Hi arfur

Thanks for the quick reply.
I’m really struggling to find a lock barrel for the front right hand door at a good price, they all seem to be left hand door ones. Do you know of anywhere you can get them at a reasonable price?

Not sure if you have left/right confused?

Most C3s don't have a passenger door lock.

The passenger on a Right Hand Drive C3 is the left hand side :)

The manual lock is only used as a backup plan should the battery be flat and the key only manually unlocks the door.

The C3 was designed for remote central locking as its main source for lock/unlock/deadlock.

The reason you are struggling to find the unusual lock is because it's rare anyway?

Is this replacing a broken lock or upgrading to an additional lock.

Hi mate

Basically my issue is that my key fob has a tendency to stop working for some reason and my C3 (right hand drive) only has one door lock on the drivers side... that spins 360 and doesn’t work. Therefore it leaves me locked out and I have to Keep breaking in to my own car lol.

So I’ve taken the door card off and had a look at the lock, and basically I need a new barrel, so that’s the drivers side of a right hand driven C3 which Is considered the right hand door lock am I right?

Yes,

As you sit in the drivers seat, right is right and left is left :)
