Hello godisadj, welcome to the forum

I would expect drive shafts to knock as they rotate. Possibly a shock absorber department, maybe the top bearing? Best to get it check out or take a look for yourself.

Have a look at these HERE to see if you can find what you need.

You may be better off just swapping the parts over between the 2 units, rather than swap the whole ebay unit into the car.

Mileage tends to get set to the higher number (between the BSI and the Dash display).

You could be lucky and get a low(er) mileage dashboard, but its tricky to get it sorted if things go wrong and the mileage is messed up.

The clocks don't need programming to the car as far as I know, and you are aware of the mileage auto-correction. Getting the same number would be a good idea. Later production runs may need an update to the BSI software, but I don't know which numbers are compatible or will need an update (if any on a A51 C3).

A good choice will be from the similar spec (fuel type, options etc) and from a close year, not crossing to a later model change.

BSI units are easy, if not a bit time consuming to software 'upgrade' using diagbox/lexia. You will need a very high version of diagbox for your late model C3.
