Bit of a technical question here but is it possible to convert manual wing mirrors to electronic ones. My car is a Citroen c3 desire(2005) with manual mirrors. the plugs are tucked in the doors and behind the blanking plug for the mirror switch there is a plug. So all plugs are present. Just wondering if it's plug and play. Or would require bsi programming . Regards

Hi
I don't think you will need to change settings is the bsi, but it will probably be easier to just connect the missing parts and trial run it on the car.
Make sure you get the correct mirror from the same year of car because there is more than one type but they look the same.
Some have electric fold back and heaters while others have only electric adjust

Thank you. Will give it a try and post results back. Just wondering if I can fit a satnav from the exclusive plus model. Just hoping to upgrade the car to a higher trim standard to save buying the same car again.
CITROEN C3 EXCLUSIVE PLUS 2008 SAT NAV
Is this the current part for the 2004 c3 and is the screen external or does it fit in dashboard (the traffic master bit) . Assuming I will also need stereo system.
Cheers

Hi
This doesn't look like anything fitted by Citroen at the factory.
If you want a higher spec C3, it is much easier to sell yours and buy the one you want rather than trying to upgrade because you will come up against the BSI coding and you will need to gain some lexia skills to make the configuration.

Okay thank you and last question
can you fit climate control to a Aircon car easily? Or are all the components different on the engine. Cheers

Sorry to be negative, but there is so much you want to do which, even if possible would cost a fortune, and would probably not work anyway, you best bet would be to sell the car and buy one with the spec you want. Probably cheaper!

True thinking the best thing to do is fit electronic mirrors and save for a citroen c3(MK2) connexion as it meets my requirements better and probably a lexia . Cheers

There are 3 types of wing mirrors. Manual, electric and power fold. All the mirrors on the original shape and facelifts are compatible. The electric mirrors should just plug in. I did it on my 2004 C2 with no problems.Matrix128 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 7:05 am Bit of a technical question here but is it possible to convert manual wing mirrors to electronic ones. Power fold: Is yours a mk1 or mk2? Does it have just an over temp light on the dash or the 6 (or so) LED bars for the temp? 2005 was the change over year so it could be either.
If its a Mk1, converting to power fold is easy BUT there has to be two connectors and about 9 wires going to the driver side and about 7 going to the passenger side (RHD) in the doors.
If it's a Mk2 then no. There are 2 relays in the wiring harness for the Mk2 cars that DO have power fold. If yours doesn't (duh) the relays wont be there and the power fold wont work.
RE: the climate control. There is a main trunk wiring loom that runs behind the dash from the passenger side to the driver side. There are a couple of versions of this loom and which one you have will determine if its economical to convert to climate control. You would obviously get all the parts from a donor wrecker vehicle, so all the necessary wiring and parts will be there. The question will be is it going to be "plug and play" or will you need to transplant that extra wiring?
I converted Citroens aftermarket alarm to factory alarm by using a combination of wiring in the kit, wiring already in the loom and other parts, so anything is possible. The question is do you have the tenacity and money to pull all of the wiring and components out of the donor car and substitute them in your car?
Basically you would be looking at the ECU/display, the 3 servos running the temp, recirculation, outlet direction control, the temperature probe, interconnecting looms and the wiring back to the BSI. The wiring back to the BSI would be the biggest hurdle. That's the bit that might not exist on your car.
