Hi guys, new here so bear with me. My wife has a c3 2008 cachet 1.4 petrol. Lovely car and only done 50k miles. As I don't drive it often I don't always hear about issues until its quite prominent. Anyway....lately I've notice when you drive normally it is fine but if say you are going along in 3rd and you give it full throttle and in 4th too, it will over rev like the clutch is slipping but obviously stay accelerating as normal. It doesn't drive erraticly but I've notice it just seems to slip if you give it some torque basically. I'm mechanical and work on all the cars in our family so don't spare any details as I do all the work myself. Hope someone can shed some light on this for me.
Anyway stay safe everyone and have a good Christmas.
Jim

It sounds like the clutch is slipping.
it will only get worse, but that will also be more evidence for you.
They start off slipping a little bit when the engine is generating maximum torque then it takes less and less torque to make it slip as time goes on.

Thanks for your reply, I also forgot to mention that lately trying to change gear is extremely stiff. Could this be a symptom? Doesn't matter if the engine is running or not.

Sounds like you have other problems too, are you sure it's only done 50k? It sounds like it has done much more than that.jimmybigfoot wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 11:09 pm Thanks for your reply, I also forgot to mention that lately trying to change gear is extremely stiff. Hi guys, I know it's been a while but I have replaced the clutch and the slipping has gone away, and it goes into gear very smoothly. I have a new issue that seems to be flywheel related, but I have done a separate post for this.
Cheers
