Hi guys, first time doing a clutch! has been an experience! anyway i just go to what i thought was home stretch tonight, did battle with getting the box back on. And decided to depress the release fork lever expecting to feel springy/mechanical action to it and nothing, it feels lose and doesnt feel like it depresses anything, its put me off reassembly as im worried something aint right. Should it feel like its pressing the bearing onto the diapragm quite distinctly? sorry for being a noob

Hi,

Yes, it is so difficult to move the fork that pushes the release bearing against the pressure plate that you need hydraulic help to overcome the resistance.
Citroen C3 Clutch Parts
Citroen C3 Clutch Parts
3 is the release bearing
4 is the pivot point
5 is the clutch fork

Did you replace the clutch fork? because it has a plastic bearing for the pivot point.

(But it is easier to just replace the whole fork than just the plastic bearing.)

Is the fork fitted correctly?

are you able to fully depress the fork by hand?

Is the box fully mated to the engine?

Hi m8 thanks for your reply!

Well i think the fork was fine it seemed it i greased up the ball joint and popped it on etc. bearing was tabbed on properly.

I couldnt really tell if i could lever the fork all the way or not that was kind of my issue.

Ive reassembled back up to drive shafts in, i thought maybe i could test popping it in gear (not starting it) to see if turning the wheels would turn the engine hence the clutch being engaged. However in gear the wheels still turn as if in neutral. Does this mean im knackered and have to take apart?
