Hi,

I have a 2003 Citroen C3 and there is an issue with the central locking.

When I want to open the car, I have to use the key and manually unlock the drivers door and open the door. The orange lights then activate on the dashboard and only then can I push the 'unlock' button on my key fob and it unlocks the other doors and the boot.

After I do this, the central locking will work until I have finished driving. I then lock the car using the key fob but when I come back to the car 5 minutes later, the whole system stops working again and I have to go through the same procedure?

Does anyone know if this is a common problem or have any ideas on how this can be fixed? I have recently spent £800 on repairs and I don't want to spend anymore if it is a simple problem I can fix myself?

I have tried both key fobs so I know there is no issue with the fobs, it is definitely the central locking. It seems strange because as soon as I open the door and activate the electrics, it works fine.

Thanks for any help.

Before you go any further I'd change the battery in both key fobs with good fresh batteries. It might not be the problem but its something simple eliminated and it just might be...
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

Do you have the standard Citroen factory radio/cd fitted?
