good afternoon. so ive been a c3 owner for a little bit now and i must say, its becoming a love hate relationship...
so last week on the way home from work, i was travailing a very fast windy road at about 2am, no street lights, car rolling about lovely (worse than a row boat in a storm) put the radio on to listen to some questionable music chocies off my gf's mp3 and then on a very tight blind corner all the lights, inside and out, cut off completely, im doing **mph in the dark, round a corner with high banks each side, heavy tree coverage and cloudy skys, couldent see a freaking thing.. any way i slam the brakes on pull over to what i though was the side of the road and got out the car. luckily i had a high powered head torch in my kit bag with red strobes on it so waked that on top of the car because the hazards wouldent work, realise im about 5ft away from the edge of the road so using my phone and head torch i move the car slowly the the side, still no lights, call rac who comes and takes a look at it, replaces a few fuses and a relay and then all the lights start working again so thought nothing off it just bad maintenance and poor timing... a few days later middle of the day put the radio on and start nodding along when i notice the dash had gone dark, pull over and check the fuses like the rac man had shown me and there was 4 that had gone again... took it the garage this morning, he thinks its the radio (some Chinese knock off) causing a short some where so hes pulled that out with all the dodgy wires and fingers crossed it dosent happen again. that being said dose anyone have any experience of strange electrical problems with the c3 ? now looking at putting a double din radio with back up cam that i was gifted a few years back (yea b4 i even passed my test) hopefuly it was just the dodgy radio and wires that were so hacked up its gona take me a year to work out what dose what as the conecter is long gone and a combo of dry solder, sticky tape, and electrical tape left in its wake
car broke again... got some gremlings in it...

Hi
The original radio is quite well linked into the BSI and messing with it could easily cause problems.
I suggest you could start from scratch for power for your replacement double din with a fused feed from the battery and a fused spur off a main ignition wire.
That way you ignore all the BSI control, use the existing speaker wiring as this is not BSI connected and a failure on the radio shouldn't affect the car.
Make the old bsi power connections safe with some crimps because sticky tape will fail eventually.
