Can I check the airbag switch by bridging the plug connections?

I've literally just walked back in , thanks , I have attached a wire bridging the two tiny plugs and attached a mini led to that and it comes on , so there is power getting to the switch , I've opened up the switch , it looks clean and is clicking like it should , all very strange .

@#!&% I'm getting myself so confused!
I just had another look at C3car's post.
Air bag off is a short, 400ohms is air bag ON. So if you bridge the loom the light should come on but you say the light is on when you unplug the switch? Again, could be a fail-safe to disarm the airbag?
If you short out the plug on the loom the "air bag" light should go out and the passenger airbag light should stay on.
If not then I think there is a break in the wiring somewhere. Have you checked the connector on the module?

Because there is a resistor in the switch the module can tell if the switch is unplugged when the circuit goes open.
My question is if the module detects an open circuit does it turn on the two lights? Or are there two faults?

Thanks for all your help !!, I've actually sorted it , I reconnected the plug under the fusebox that connects to the passenger airbag , it looks exactly the same as the one under the seat , very few forums or posts tell you to check that one , it was all clicked in without any obvious issue , it looked fine. Fixed for free ! Theres a first , I've only got to fix the buzzing lock ( I know how ) and it will be like a new car .

Oh! Was the connector not pressed home all the way, or not connected at all?
It appears that the air bag module was actually trying to be helpful by attempting to tell us there was a problem with the passenger air bag (in a round about way)! LOL!
The air bag connectors are special, in that they short out the electrical connections when they are pulled apart. This helps the air bag module detect failures and reduce the chance of static discharge firing off the air bag.
Thanks for getting back to us. Something to remember for the future.
