Well, the radio removal keys have arrived and work great, but I have a problem getting the radio out - the cables at the rear are stopping the radio from withdrawing fully. I can't see or even get to the wiring. If I pull hard I'm don't know if I'm going to do some damage. Any thoughts at all?

Thanks a lot.
There is not much behind the radio so I don't think you will do any harm with a bit of a tug. Do you have anything below the radio? If you can remove whatever is below the radio you may be able to reach up and disconnect or at least get a better idea of what is stopping the radio from coming out.

Ok I pulled hard and it just won't release, so the wiring loom must be caught up somehow. So I've decided to give up! I don't want to chance causing any damage which I won't be able to fix. By the way it's all standard nothing below the radio other than the cubby box.
Instead, I'll tap into the rear of the accessory socket (even though it doesn't delay power off). I found a useful post entitled "passenger windows stuck down" which shows how to separate the centre console around the gearstick to get to the wiring. But now I'm having a problem removing the gear knob. The guide says "lift and twist", and I’ve pulled hard but no luck. Do you need to turn it exactly 90 or 180 degrees before it will release and come off?
For clarity this is the type of gear lever fitted to my car:

No, I twist mine like I am unscrewing it. There is not a screw thread on it, but the twisting action while pulling makes it move a bit easier. It does take a fair bit of effort to remove with the twisting and pulling (lifting).

Citroen fitted several options to where your cubby is. The cubby should just pull out with a good hard pull if its anything like the drawer found on exclusive models.

Hi Arfur, thanks again for your continued support. So I think the factory must have been using superglue the day they made my car! While I can twist the gear knob with some difficulty, it doesn't want to pull upwards even after applying considerable force. Also I've tried levering the cubby box with a screwdriver to no avail. Whilst it's an old car the interior is very good and clean and I really don't want to wreck anything! (Actually I only recently acquired it, and I'm really pleased with its comfort and practicality, and I'm routinely getting 50mpg.)
So it's back to “Plan A”. I'll tap off the fusebox, F22, with an add-a-circuit. That'll have to do, and when the wiring is concealed it'll make a good job.
I really appreciate your friendly help with this, and I'll be keeping an eye on the forum for more useful tips in the future.
All the best.
PS I’ve been trialling the dashcam in battery mode over the past couple of days in case anyone’s interested. Reasonably impressed with the Mobius (version 3 with wide angle C3 lens), but discovered that the windscreen needs to be spotless or the image in low light and at night appears more grainy.

No problem, it great you had a plan A to go back to.
