Hi everyone. There was a water leakage on the floor on the passengers side with 5cm of water covering it.
I was told before that spilling liquid around the center of the car(near the gear stick) could lead to the airbags openning. Is there such an issue and is there a way to check if the water leakage damaged the airbag openning system?
Can airbags activate by interior water leak?

The airbag system will check itself for faults when the ignition is switched on.Aia wrote: ↑Mon Jul 09, 2018 6:50 am Hi everyone. There was a water leakage on the floor on the passengers side with 5cm of water covering it.

You should disconnect the battery, thoroughly dry out the car and when you are sure its perfectly dry inside, reconnect the battery and switch on the ignition (without starting) and starting and wait for the dash lights (10 seconds max) to extinguish.
The AIR BAG ECU is under the plastics between the handbrake and gearstick.

This may seem a daft question but what sort of water was involved?
If it was rain or river, not too much of a issue if everything is thoroughly dry but if it was sea/salt water, sell the car.
Salt water will start corrosion in contacts which will deteriorate over time and give you all sorts of fun and games!

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried
