C3 won't turn over

Hi all,

First time posting here and looking for some help.

I have a '55 plate C3 which was parked up over Christmas. I have tried to start it this morning and it won't turn over. I changed the battery but still have the same problem. When I turn the key the lights come on but the battery light is flashing and I get a click when I try and start but the engine won't turn over. The lights work but I cannot use the radio, the electric windows and mirrors do not work.

It is a real mystery to me.

I bought it 6 months ago since the start the one key it came with will not activate the central locking but has always started the car first time. Also about a month ago the door solenoid stopped working so the car registers as having the drivers door open but since I can't lock it anyway I didn't think it would be a problem.

If the person who parked it up had set the 'Park Shunt' into car storage position then you get similar symptoms

Probably the key is not synchronised to the central locking or the battery is flat in the key or its a busted switch on the board..... This will need its own topic to diagnose . This is a door solenoid problem by the sounds of it. You can swap it for a working solenoid and that is a different topic too. Not connected to the won't turn over problem. This topic - C3 Rear Door Lock removal (for buzzing locks) has some pictures.

If that is not your cause, you may have a blown fuse, check the MAXI fuse, pay particular attention to 7. Ignition Switch (30A).
