We've had a diagnostic test done today by our local Citroen dealer, at a cost of £90.

Our car is a 2012 reg C3 E-Hdi Exclusive, so all the goodies on it, sat nav etc etc.

The net result is that the dealer has advised that a new RT6 unit is required (this powers the LCD screen, and allows to navigate the LCD screen). You can just imagine how much it will cost from the dealer, many £££££'s in addition to labour costs.

My question is two fold I guess:
1, Would you buy a 2nd hand unit?
2, Is it as easy, as just taking out the RT6 connecting to the power and slotting in?

PS: the replacement part number is # 1612413980

Many thanks.

Did you have a problem with the car before you took it to the dealer for diagnostics?

Yes, we took it in to the Dealers for their diagnostics check @ £90 :|

New RT6 units seem hideously expensive.

Would you suggest a repair or new unit?

Thank you.

You would need to find someone to repair it first. There won't be a problem getting a new one and you may fine a second hand one around.

Those parts have always needed programming to the car by VIN for security, so I don't see RT6 as any different, so you will need it programming to your C3.
