The horn worked and the lights came on as I wanted.
After 5 mins or so the car went into Economy mode but from this it looks like its the Original Bsi Unit at fault..
Yes, this is correct functioning of a BSI that is not paired (everything but starting works).

You can swap a paired engine ECU, key and BSI into the car and reprogram it for the model its now in.

Or, you try to repair your BSI with the ebay donor power board and keep your original processor board (which has the pairing). You wiuld have to assume the fault is on the BSI power board. (some info on the BSI board swap repair trick.

Or, put the original one back in and wonder why it all just started working :o :o :o :o

Phoned BBa Reman and my original BSI board is dead and they cannot connect to it so unable to do anything!
They have said I need a new Board (Virgin) but the numbers are starting to get a bit too big for a 2005 car!
Ive asked them to return my original board and I'm looking at separating the top/bottom sections and keeping the pairing part by using another donor board!

Its so bloody complicated!

Yes, it is. I think people underestimate the complexity of the computer and control systems in the C3, right back to 2002. It was very advanced for its year.

While you have nothing to loose in doing this, you may find the processor board is also bad and you still won't get anywhere :(

Be prepared for a plan 'B' which is a matched pair of BSI ECU and key, then some lexia tweaking to get the donor parts to play with the recipient car.

At the end of the day you've got a car sat in the drive/ garage that you cant use clogging the place up! Mrs starting to get a bit peeved by it all!!
If that doesn't work its a complete set BSI- ECU- KEY RING and new key circuit boards...
I see why nobody wants to do it NOW.....

Any more advice appreciated... help..!

The car went to a local Auto electrician and after a week he agreed the Bsi was at fault. he did something to do with can bus and fitted the old bsi unit I purchased at ebay and the car is running perfectly! the only problem now is the electric sunroof will not operate along with the electric mirrors?
the car also has 9000 more miles on? Im guessing due to the donor cars milage on the old Bsi unit?
there is power to the roof switch as I can see a yellow light inside the switch but the roof does not operate? motor connected directly to a 12v supply works fine, ive taken the plug off to the switch and there are 6 pins connecting, im guessing 2 for the power supply and the other 4 something to do with microswitches?
Anyone any ideas please?

Great, very encouraging.

The mirrors and sunroof are controlled by.... the BSI. No surprise there. The donor car probably didn't have a sunroof or electric mirrors, so the BSI was not programmed to control them. You need to use the LEXIA tool to reconfigure (here) the replacement BSI to match the recipients spec.

Not all BSI can do all the features, like front fog lights, heated seats etc...

Mileage is stored in BSI and Dash display. The higher number is taken as valid in a swap or mismatch.

Probably not if it did work before the BSI went bad, more like a BSI programming problem.
