Pressing the button on the indicator stalk does not work to that changes the info display? I presume? any ideas?

It depends on which stalk and which button ;)

Left stalk automatic headlights (topic here) on some models.

Right stalk can have several different options (information here) depending on model.

Has the button ever worked since you've had the car?

Does your car have the original radio fitted?
