Hi, looking for a quick bit of advice.
My brake light on the passenger side and also in the back windscreen both aren't working. The strange thing is though that the normal rear light on that side seems to be working - aren't these the same bulb?
Sorry if this seems like a daft question, but any hints on what may be the issue?
2009 - 59 plate diesel 1.4 just in case it helps.
Thanks

The brake light and rear position light are the same bulb but within the bulb there are two filaments (the bit that lights up). One of the filaments can fail and the other still work, so the first thing I'd do is look at the bulb.
The high level brake light could be unconnected, I'd sort out the low level brake light first, see if it is the bulb before moving on to more fault finding.

Thanks - didn't realise that about the bulb. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

High level brake light found on the C3
W16W-921 bulb is the High Level Brake Light on a C3 and looks like the one in the picture above. Its a higher wattage version of a standard wedge bulb.

Just to say thanks. Glad I got some advice on here, but it turns out it was just a couple of replacement bulbs needed when I thought it was something more complex. You just saved me a fortune!

Pleased you got it sorted.
Reminds me of when I was a student learning about fault finding in circuits. The natural reaction is to go for all the toys (aka sophisticated test gear) and do some real testing. A wise older engineer said to me:-
1) Look for obvious things first - eg has a wire dropped off?
2) What has someone done that coincided with the fault occurring?
In my experience 1) and 2) account for a significant percentage of faults.
He also added, if you work for a big company - in the case of cars, a main dealer would apply - go for all the toys and make it look good cos the customer needs to know that they've received value for money when they get the hefty bill!!!
