Hello all, newbie here, bought a c3 2008 and was wondering if you know that when I pull bonnet release,it releases catch but have to use a wooden spatula to lift bonnet so I can get my fingers under, doesn't seem to spring up enough, hence using spatula.

Hi

There are a couple of springs in the mechanism, you may have one missing or broken?

You can also see by the photo that the mechanism can get covered in dirt. If all the parts are there (I.E. the springs) it just might need to be cleaned.
The catch is only held in with 2 bolts and the whole thing can be removed for better access.
If your car has an alarm there is also a switch and wiring harness connected to the catch. You can see the harness underneath the catch in the photo. This just clips in.
