Whilst browsing another manufacturers forum, I found the following article,

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2021/ ... ing-system

Since 2018 all new cars sold across the EU have been required to have an eCall system that automatically contacts the emergency services with the vehicle’s location in the event of a serious accident. It is a sophisticated set-up using the car’s navigation system and airbag sensors, and it has its own mobile phone sim card.

I find this interesting, as on the basis of this, our 2019 C3 should be fitted with this. However, our car does not have satnav, so I'm wondering whether I have this. Bearing in mind my opinion of motoring journalist, many of whom haven't got a clue, sometimes when it says all new cars have to be fitted with whatever, it may mean that all new models of car must be fitted, but not the last of the older version (thinking of the introduction of DRLs, which didn't appear overnight)

Any knowledge of this, or comments?

The UK government has objected to the plans, however. Quoted on the BBC website, UK Transport Minister Claire Perry said "the benefit of making eCall mandatory in all new cars does not justify the cost of implementing it. We do not support the measure, because it is not cost-effective for us."

It looks like it wasn't going to be mandatory on UK cars, but it was up to the manufacturer if they fitted it on a UK model or not.

Judging by the problems the German marques have been getting with warranty work on eCall, you may well be better off without it.
