Hi Missing Lincs

The light on the switch goes on/off with pressing of the button.

So it lights to say the button has been pressed. Today was the first time I saw the light come on.

The alarm light, I think, is on the button for the central locking.

This topic is of interest to me, my 2004 exclusive has the alarm factory fitted - but it doesn't work at all. It's as if it is dissabled.

I believe there is an option within the ECU settings to enable/dissable the alarm, but citroen want to charge a small fortune to even check with their lexia, and then even more to enable it

But, for me at least, I need to know why the alarm was dissabled in the first place..

Only a guess at this stage but one possibility for the alarm not being activated is the the battery backup in the alarm siren might have failed. As I say, only a guess but the age of your vehicle would make this a possibility. I believe the alarm ECU checks for siren faults.

Why do you say that the alarm isn't active, have you tried to trigger it or is it that the alarm LED doesn't flash? I presume the central locking still works remotely?

There is indeed an option to enable and disable the alarm, Citroen aren't the only people who can read the settings and change them, many independent specialists can do this and even some amateur auto sparkies where abouts are you? There might be someone nearby who can help.

The alarm is attached to the car, wiring harness in place.. but there is no response from the dash button, it is dead as a dodo. The immobiliser light flashes in the door lock button though.

the central locking works fine, and no problem with the keys

I've looked at the alarm box, it is a sealed unit...

BTW the wiring diagram earlier in this thread shows a bonnet switch - my car doesn't have one.. - I am guessing that the diagram is from a later model, or the dealer-fit verision..

From what C3CAR says earlier in the topic, the alarm led is the one on the lock button. Without an alarm nothing flashes!

The button to turn off the ultrasonics only works for a couple of minutes after the ignition is turned off, have you tried this?

To test the alarm function, leave the drivers window down and lock the car with the fob, wait a few minutes for the systems t activate and then put your hand in the car and wave!!

The bonnet switch may not be apparent, its part of the lock mechanism, its not a switch like aftermarket alarms use with an actuator sticking up somewhere near the bonnet edge.

I may have said something incorrect in the above post. The LED in the locking button does flash but in my case, it is so feint I didn't notice it in daylight. The only thing I'm not sure on is weather it has been flashing all along or since I installed the alarm?

There is a setting in the alarm menu which allows 'the LED' to be controlled by the alarm ECU, it could be 'the LED' being referred to is the one in the lock switch, I presumed it was the extra one that is fitted when the alarm kit is installed.

Either way, I've now got two flashing LEDs, one is the shiny new bright one installed with the alarm. The harness in the second kit went straight in, removing the connector in the BSI that filled the space for the alarm wiring hasn't affected anything, I thinkthe theory that the under dash harness is the same for cars with or without factory alarm must be right.

Its possible that the first alarm kit I got also had an incorrect alarm ECU, the part number from the second kit, which came sealed, was different. Its possible the part number simply got updated but as I can't get any information on Delphi part numbers I've fitted the one I know to be correct. Both sirens where the same so I've used the newest.

A bit of activation and all up and running.

A bit late in the day but I had a reply from Delphi's technical department today (Delphi manufactured the alarm components for Citroen).

They confirmed that the harness under the dash was pre-wired for an alarm, but as suspected, the harness under the bonnet isn't. So the extra blue plug I found and the connector sitting in the alarm socket on the BSI was alarm related but without changing other harnesses or hacking into the existing, it can't be used. The add on alarm harness was the best option after all!

Dude, this is incorrect.. i have a 2003 C3 which has no alarm installed but it still has that central locking button, and the LED flashes when the car is locked remotely.
