Hi All,
Anybody had any experience in getting to the air con matrix behind the dash. My air-con stopped working & got it re-charged, it lasted a couple of days & all the while I could smell oily gas type smells coming through the air vents. I therefore believe it's the matrix behind the dash that has gone & want to get to it to have a look. I can see how to get to the hot radaiator but the air con side looks like a black wall!
This is on a 59 plate 1.4HDi
Any help appreciated!

Hi zebedee2001. I have not had to replace one before, thankfully. The heater/cooling evaporator housing on the C3, as for many cars, is a very long and complicated job. Stripping out the dashboard to get to the guts of it.zebedee2001 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 8:11 pm Hi All,

I think you will find the evaporator unit for the Air Con being accessed after removing part 7 in the diagram. This is underneath the whole unit, so I would imagine you need to remove the whole thing to get to it.
Follow the arrows and this is where I think it will be

6 is the electric heating element

The video shows a LHD C2 heater matrix removal, but also shows the air con evaporator in place when the heater matrix was removed. It is the same setup in a C3 2002-2009 RHD.
