Hello,

I have purchased a third party central locking kit from China with "passive keyless entry"-function, and I'm struggling to figure out how to connect it to the car. My goal is to connect this kit on top of the existing central locking feature embedded in the BSI.

The central locking box from the kit has two wires: one wire for locking, and one wire for unlocking. It seems that the Haynes wiring diagram does not match my vehicle, as most wires do not match up and are coloured differently (throughout different electrical systems in the car; not just central locking).
My first idea was to open the driver-side door and probe different wires when locking and unlocking the door in that side to determine if a signal changed in one while unlocking and while locking. But, it seems that the wiring is much more complex than that since different wires seem to be grounded or on when locking, unlocking, opening door, using central lock button in car, etc.

The wires from the new central locking box are grounded when needed. So, to lock the car, one of the wires becomes grounded for a period of time, and to unlock the car, the other wire becomes grounded for a period of time.

It has become really frustrating, so I wanted to know if any of you have tried connecting a box like this? And where did you connect it?

All help would be appreciated :D

Hi,

Someone tried before and they are not compatible.

If you want to see for yourself, the Haynes manual for the C3 (here) covers your year and it's central locking.

There is a possibility you could connect your locking kit via the wiring to the locking button in the centre of the dash.

Three things to be aware of that I can think of:-

1) Do not under any circumstances apply a voltage to or ground/earth the existing wiring, you would just have to use the relay contacts on your unit to act as a second volt-less switch in parallel with the dash switch. You'd have to look at the wiring inside the switch to see how 'deep' you need to go into the switch to make your connection.

2) The existing switch is push lock, push unlock so co-ordination with the lock, unlock on your separate unit could be an issue. You'd have to make sure you weren't unlocking when you thought you were locking etc.

and finally

3) I don't think you could operate the dead-locking via the dash switch. AFIK it's just lock/unlock.

Other than that - simples
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried
