Hi,

I have a 52 Plate Citroen C3 1.4i LX.

Now, I have never noticed this until very recently, while watching some youtube videos about 'buying' a used car, they mentioned if the EML, Battery and ABS Light does not light up on ignition, then disappear then there may be a problem with either of these systems.

Now, I've never really had to use my brakes and when I have, I have never felt the ABS kick in, so I'm not sure if I just havent hit the brakes hard enough to engage them, or they're actually not functioning.

I checked the manual which indicates that it should light up for about 2 seconds then turn off, It doesnt!

Should this be something I should be concerned about? Where would my first step be? I would suggest Fuse box and check the relays, but if there's some other suggestions, I'm more than happy to read.

Thank you.
Chris.

First thing I'd check, does your car have ABS? You could check this out with a dealership, from the chassis number they can tell you the exact spec. of the car. Alternatively, there are members on this forum who can check this out for you, I'm sure one will be along shortly.

If it does, then a blown fuse or other fault should be bringing up the warning light, if the warning lamp doesn't come on it could be a problem with the lamp.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

If you have the ABS ECU and Pump fitted - view from below near side front, then you should have the ABS light illuminate during the self test. If you don't have the Pump and ECU fitted, then you won't see the ABS light illuminate when you first switch on the ignition.

There is a topic for Air Bag lights not illuminating on self test during the ignition on phase in this topic here (Air bag light not on) which may be of use if you have a single dashboard light not coming on when it should.
