It sounds like a can/van bus or BSI problem.

I have seen this before, and disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery clears the problem which hasn't returned since.

You could try disconnecting any of the CAN/VAN stuff and see if it clears. An easy one to start with is the centre console display and later cars, try the radio/cd too.

CAN is usually the twisted pairs found in the wiring loom, I am not sure if all VAN is twisted pair, but it would make sense. Most of the interconnections to the various ECUs (each module is an ECU) will have a can or van bus connection as their means of communication to the rest of the car.

You may get somewhere using a lexia as the car may have recorded which ECUs failed to communicate, expect to see 'remote fault..' and investigate further with that fault.

Info on VAN - Vehicle area network, but no mention of the physical layer.

How about a CAN/VAN bus problem as suggested earlier?

Hi again..
I'm back again :)

I've had the same problem again. :? :?

engine, automatic transmission, headlamps, signals are working normally.

I stopped the engine and started it again. There's no problem with the car running.

But I noticed something.

1) When I received this error, the radio, air conditioning and speedometer lights were dimmed.(lamps dimmed at minimum lux level)
2) I took the key. but the radio, air conditioning and speedometer display lights did not go out. (light not off)

I think the front console has a communication problem. (at radio com, air conditioning com and speedometer com)

You can try disconnecting the various units, easiest is radio. Then try others.

It is going to be very time consuming to find the fault if it only happens every year or so and you may just find a quick fix by disconnecting the battery, or shifting the PARK SHUNT to reset the display.

PARK SHUNT on a 2002 to 2005
PARK SHUNT on a Citroen C3 2002

PARK SHUNT on a C3 2006 to 2009

You also have lexia and then can help diagnose the problems (button across the bottom of the screen) but faulting down a VAN/CAN bus takes a fair bit of knowledge on how it works and usually starts by checking connections to the systems affected by unplugging and re-plugging the connectors.
