Hi,

Further to my recent post about the Blower Resistor, it looks as if I need to remove the glovebox to access the component.

I did find a YT Video showing how to remove for a 2010 model, but needless to say I am still struggling.

I have removed three screws from the top surround of the glovebox, and two screws from the bottom (see image). However, it is still not moving - there appears to be a little bit of "give" on the left hand bottom side, but along the top and right hand side it is still solid. I did use a screwdriver to see if it just needed a little "persuasion", but no success there.

I'm not sure if there are any other hidden screws/clips on the A51, or if the dial (which I believe is a glovebox vent) also needs to be removed.

Any help will be very gratefully received.

Many thanks.

Hi

We have a guide to remove the Citroen C3 2002-2009 glove box from the car. The early version are very similar to the later versions of the car.

Many thanks for posting the link. Have just watched the video and I'll take another look at mine tomorrow.

Funnily enough, I've just been watching yet another YT video that claims to be for this version of the car, and this time the resistor is in the LHS of the central console, accessed via a clip-on piece of trim - not sure if this is because it was a LHD model rather than RHD, but I wouldn't have expected that location to have changed due to the driving position.

The air distribution box (where the fan and air distribution flaps are located) will be the same for the right hand and left hand drive cars. So the "resistor" will be in the same place, it will just be considered the drivers side (for a LHD car). Because there will not be a glove box in the way, it would be easier to access.

The "vent" in the glove box picks off air from the air ducting going to the left most dash vent. If you have the air con set to "face", the glove box will get cool. You can "dial" the vent knob to adjust air flow into the glove box. Typically there are no clips or clamps retaining it to the ducting.

The old glove boxes have pins going through the glove box lid into the dash. These pins need to be removed before the glove box will come out. I don't know if it's the same for the newer cars. Perhaps you need to "squeeze" the glove box lid to release the pivot pins?

Thanks Ozvtr. Having seen a couple of YT videos now, there is no mention of any pins - they only say to remove the three screws along the top, and those underneath.

Anyhow, this morning was a partial success - I have managed to get the LHS (in attached images marked 1 and 2) and bottom RHS corner free, but the RHS top corner is still refusing to move - hopefully this can be seen in the attached images marked 2 and 3. I did remove the air-vent as well, but this made no difference.

What is more annoying is that the car was in the garage for a service a couple of weeks ago, and if this problem had reared it's head at that time, I could have had it sorted at the same time!!

Looks as if I don't have to remove the glovebox after all - I found a YT video for a 2015 DS3, which shows the resistor accessed via the LHS of the central console.
