Hi,

I've seen several posts relating to this problem which seems to be a broken resistor, but I'm not sure if they relate to the 2016 model, as one of the posts then gave a link to a YouTube video
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MU2YDoI1NJ0) that transpires is for the earlier 2009 models, where the resistor is located in the drivers footwell.

Having followed this video and not seeing any cable, I then found another video that is for a 2010 model, which seems to suggest that the resistor is hidden behind the glovebox.

And another post on here back in 2018 advised:

So I am thoroughly confused now!!!! Is it the case that the resistor is located as per the diagram above, and if so, is the blower located behind the glovebox (which I have failed to remove despite appearing to have removed all of the retaining screws!!)?

Many thanks.

Hi

The video shows a 2002 car.

Yours is much later and will be like the diagram you found.

It is not easy to access, you need to get into it deeper, refer to the diagram :)

Hi Arfur

Thanks for the reply. Just wondering if the unit is located behind the glove compartment?

In the 2010 model video it shows the glovebox being removed. I have taken out the three screws across the top fascia and two below but there is still something stopping me from removing it - seems to be stuck on the RHS as you look at it.

Thanks again.

Looks like you really have to reef on the glove box to get it out.
Doesn't look like you need to remove the glove box but it would make things easier.
You would be working very blindly and only manipulating things by touch.

Hi Ozvtr,

Thanks for the reply. Being from the UK, I assume that "reefing" is to use brute force to remove it??!!

If so, I have tried this, but it does appear to still be solidly fixed in place, almost as if there are some additional screws/clips hidden away somewhere!! Must admit that I'm not keen trying to change the resistor "blind" and would rather at least have full visibility of the unit.

I have added another post on removal of the glovebox, as I suspect that there may be forum members out there who have the knowledge but may not necessarily relate it to this post.

Fingers crossed!!!

Looks as if I don't have to remove the glovebox after all!! I found a YT video for a 2015 DS3, which shows the resistor accessed via the LHS of the central console, which indeed is the case with my daughters C3. It is a lot of "fumbling" to find the resistor, but easy enough to remove once the cable has been unclipped - now getting the ordered replacement back in may well be another challenge!!!

I have included a link below should anyone else need to replace their resistor:

... and fingers crossed, I have had the new resistor delivered and fitted it temporarily just to check....and it does seem to have done the trick. Just need to wait for it to stop raining before I try to wrestle the resistor into it's correct position!!

Again, many thanks for your advice - greatly appreciated.
