Thanks for the link on the splices 👍🏻. Will get a pack 😉. But ohh how depressing saying that it will definitely happen again! It’s a pain but if I could get a couple of years out of a resistor @£12 a pop I’d be happy enough just to keep replacing it, but if the connector block keeps getting melted 🤯. Ho hum, first things first… get it working 🙏

So just a quick update just incase anybody out there is waiting to see what happens :D ... I ordered the parts from AliExpress an am currently still waiting (2 weeks) - Tracking is showing that they arrived in the UK 2 days ago, so I'm hoping they'll show up soon as early morning driving with the windows down and having to wipe the inside of the window whilst driving is a tad treacherous without the fan to clear the way :?

Ok, so it’s been a while. Finally have all the pieces with the exception of the heat shrink connectors (they seem to have gotten lost coming from China), which I’ve now ordered from Amazon. So After removing the resistor pack I realised that sorting the corresponding resistor connector block (which had melted!) wasn’t going to be possible without disconnecting a few of the terminal blocks to give enough slack on the loom. Of course this was a real ball ache  that resulted in me having to remove the whole glove box compartment - thankfully I only managed to break one retainer clip which didn’t matter as there’s an associated screw as backup!

My issue is now is that the connection block from China matches perfectly but the gauges of wire on the block do not match up (thinner) with the existing wires from the original loom - my concern is that given the history of overheating that the wires on the new block may not be up to the job if I connect them together.

I think a better job would be to just cut the knackered female crimp connectors from the red and black wires (by gauge and colour I’m guessing + / - feeds, black melted/covered in plastic, red looks corroded) and attach new connectors. Then de-pin the connector block from China and slot the original wiring in.

So finally to my questions

Is this a stupid idea, should I just connect the block/terminal from China using the wiring already attached?

If better to use original wiring, I realise that I need to get connectors to match the gauge of wire as the connectors seem slightly larger. Is there an easy way to do this without a wire measuring gauge?

Can someone confirm the type of connectors (see photos) - I think they might be Molex MX150 female crimp terminal on the original wiring, however in the block from China there seem to be ‘Junior Power’ type connectors… so should I just fit the Molex type on the two knackered ones or replace all of the wires with the Junior power ones… my worry is that the Molex ones won’t fit in the new connector block as it currently has the junior power type ones in it… which leads me on to…

De-pin the block from China? The original block had melted on to the terminals so I had to cut/break the block away. It would be great if I could de-pin the one from China and see if I could slot the original wires in there to see if they fit (lock in place) before ordering more terminal connectors… Do I need to get a set of terminal de-pinning keys or is there a way to do it without these keys?

Any and all advice is very very VERY welcome 🙏 as driving is proving a bit hazardous first thing with the weather closing in

Thanks again 😃

Sorry meant to upload the photos of the two types of connectors I mentioned in previous post…
Molex?!?
Molex?!?
Junior Power?!?
Junior Power?!?
Any clarity on what terminal type and gauge/ how to gauge gauge  is much appreciated.

Should I go with just swapping the two knackered terminals or replace all 6 with the ‘junior’ type. Also I got the grabs from re components to sell them in the 100s… where would be the best place to buy these locally (auto electrician) or is eBay the best place?

Thanks again again ;)
