Hello Martyn
The 2007 C3 should come with two remote keys.
So the way to diagnose this is to use the other key, and observe the response. If both keys behave badly, change the batteries with fresh ones in the keys and try again.
Try moving the car to a different place to see if there is a local problem that is affecting the radio frequency signal.
If you still have the problem with both keys and two new batteries, in different locations then you are looking at the COM2000 unit but this gets a bit complicated.

Hi C3 Guru , I only have one key,and battery is ok (and new) ,the fault is still there no matter where I try it.it is as if the system is not receiving
the signal from the key at any distance . regards Martyn

That is the trouble with buying a car with only one key, it becomes so much more expensive to diagnose key problems.
You could have the key tested at a locksmith that deals with car fobs. If the signal is weak, this should show up under the test.
You can add an avatar to your account - Avatar or change your vehicle details - Car Bio or even add a signature to your posts - Signature. But this is not all you can do in the User Control Panel

The receiver is part of the COM2000 unit. This is how to remove the COM2000 from the C3 and these are COM2000 units on eBay.
It is best to remove yours then you can match the part number to ones listed. There are many different versions of com2000 across Citroen and Peugeot. Just match part number to avoid things not working or having to set-up with lexia.
