Morning , afternoon , evening, who knows anymore?
I appreciate that this has been discussed in the past , however I think my problem is slightly different
I have a 2002 exclusive petrol with air-con (digital display) , early in the week the blower stopped working ,
it wasnt dying over time , its always been 100% . It now blows slowly , display is ok , air direction changes when button pressed , A/C can be heard kicking in.
The blower isnt moving at all.
All Fuses are good , I have removed the resistor and its "looks" ok , I have connected a bulb to the smaller plug and it lights , so - and + all good there.
I removed the resistor and left it attached to the plugs , turned the engine on and nothing...
until the metal fins of the resistor touched the bodywork and the fan kicked in , I couldnt adjust speed it was just on full.
I replicated this by attaching a wire to the battery - terminal and touching the fins again and the same happened.
Does this sound like a resistor problem? , blower motor turns without issue , fuses all ok , there is obviously power getting to the resistor so the switch is ok , also strange as the negative is confirmed as getting to the resistor , however when i connect and independent negative the fan runs on full.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like the speed controller (resistor) is dead.
When you touch the heatsink (fins) to the chassis (negative) that just shorts it out and the fan runs continuously.
It's possible there is a problem with the ECU (the display) or wiring but the smart money is on the speed controller.
There are thousands of these for sale on Ebay.
