The brakes are brakes and its not an engine related thing so I am sure this topic will be moved before long :)

Euro car parts do discs (here) and brake pads (here) from several different, respected manufacturers, all of which will perform well with normal driving.

There are 2 different size front discs fitted so its worth checking by reg for the part and some diesels have discs and others drums on the rear.
