I have a 55 Reg C3 Exclusive Sensodrive.
I bought the car after it had had a new clutch, clutch actuator and gearbox actuator fitted by an automatic gearbox specialist.

It drives faultlessly in forward gears, but now, it won't select reverse gear.
Initially it would select it, but then once you'd done a few miles it wouldn't select.

I took it back to the gearbox specialist and he scanned for the fault codes.

It gave 2, Clutch Clearance, which it can't be, since it drives and changes ok going forward, but they checked the clutch adjustment to be sure and the actuator.

Secondly it says gear lever attenuation, but he has no idea what this means.

When you select reverse, it won't allow you to rev the engine, then the snow flake appears, but it doesn't go anywhere.
Sometimes it will go in.

Anyone got any ideas please ?

I have bought another gear selector lever from a breakers, but if I fit this, do I need to go through any reset procedure ? :?

Did you get the 'P' codes that are linked to the description you provided above? The 'P' code will be a series of numbers proceeded by a 'P'. These may be a bit more useful than the description. What tool was uses to extract those descriptions from the gearbox ecu?

I am not aware of any reconfiguration that is required if you swap the gear selector.

Please do let us know how you get on.

Hi, sorry, I don't know the P codes, or the machine he used unfortunately.

I first had it checked at my local garage on a Snap-on machine, but it came up with a slip message ( clutch again), plus unknown code.

I have booked in somewhere else, to see if they can sort it, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience of this problem, or similar.

When the car has been standing ( i.e, cold ) it usually goes in ok, but that's not 100% guaranteed.
It seems to be once it is warmed up - I can't understand it, because it still goes into forward geras without problems, so that eliminates the clutch actuator overheating, which I've read about in another thread.
