Lexia arrived! Put it on car and got the following info -

P1702 power latch
clutch slipping
P1766 gear lever signal fault
P1717 gear lever signal fault
SSD inductive signature malfunction
TRS intermittent fault

Tested actuators and results came back ok. Happy in changing clutch and gear lever but the power latch thing has me confuddled! Or is all this a red herring and the gearbox ecu is at fault?

With a bunch of error, its best to record them fully (with a screen shot), then delete them.

Try to start the car or run it or whatever wasn't working, then read the codes again.

This helps by removing old codes that may have been an issue in the past (but keeping a record), and are not currently valid so you only have to deal with the current ones. Others may return after the engine has been started if they are needed again.

Hi all. Not done clutch yet but cleared codes, changed gear selector and got N in the display! Yeasss!

Went for drive. 5 miles. Drove through all the gears 1 to 5 and reverse perfectly!

Then.....snowflake! Locked in 2. Then back to - and not starting!

Code read tm! Update then.

Fault codes read. No mention of clutch slip this time! But p1717, p1766 p1702 have all returned. I had replaced the gear selector and got all gears and starting back but back to square one now! It seems as though the gear selector is struggling to communicate with ecu. Any ideas?

What is the battery voltage and the alternator output voltage? Just a check that the voltage supplied to the ECU is acceptable...

It was worth checking. Before blaming the gear box ECU, make sure the electrical plug and socket connections are good by removing them and refitting them.

Hello, I only bought a second hand Citroen C3 at the beginning of August, and today 26th August, it won't start. same symptom: with AUTO and - on, can't get into N or 1 (even if I use the "auto" button to turn the autodrive off ). Could you please let me know what is the result of your diagnose? There was once when I was on a motor way, the snowflake flashed, and the car just lost speed (I think the gear box was detached, so engine runs but the car slowed down to a stop), very dangerous. Do I need to change the whole gear box?

Hi Like_To_Play, I suggest you read the previous posts and see that you need a lexia to diagnose the sensodrive system on a C3. If you suspect a mechanical problem that would justify changing the gear box then you need to do a mechanical inspection too.

I don't see how one set of fault codes (p1717, p1766 p1702) from deano can help you.

The advice is to take your own codes from the car and use these as a point to diagnose form. To get those all too useful codes use only one of these lexia clone boxes or a trip to the dealer to do the same.

bad news: car in a garage, they don't have Lexia, used DEC superscan, found the code P0560 - ECU supply. The Garage suggested to send the ECU off for a test and then hopeful a repair. What do you think?
