Hi, just a thought. If the problem is oil loss, there will be LOTS of oil under the car. But checking the level is easy. Even when cold and not running the level should be up to the mark, maybe above. If the stick is dry, there is a serious leak. And the oil is usually red.

Don't forget this is a C3, nothing easy or as you would expect to see on cars made before the new millennium.patt wrote: Hi, just a thought. The Citroen C3 fully auto has the AL4 gearbox that needs 'special' LT 71141 ATF (available here) (automatic transmission fluid )- and its not that bright red stuff

A comparison of some New LT71141 ATF and some used that has been drained from an automatic gearbox (not an AL4, but a ZF 5HP-19 at 40k miles) New on the left

Thanks to Filehorse for the image from https://forum.roadfly.com/
The oil checking is a right pain, no dipstick, its more of a 'if lots of oil pours out, then there is enough in there', but some a re just sealed 'for life'......
c3-automatic-gearbox/another-c3-auto-ge ... r-t55.html has some instructions on level checking, but basically, add half a litre of oil, run the gearbox, then remove the level check plug, if no oil, or only drips of oil, add another half a litre and repeat. If oil eventually runs out of the level point, you have reached 'over full' - allow the excess to drain (up to 500mls). Now the level is correct

The drain plug (if fitted) is at the same location as the level plug, don't undo the wrong one!
