came across this video, and was wondering if its basically the same thing? i have to change the troublesome electrovalves, and when i saw the step by step guide, i got concerned about the selector/slider rod, and getting the positioned set correctly, and using a "special" tool, but in this video, it doesn't look to be an issue?

This topic is our guide to the AL4 solenoid valves on a fully auto C3, thanks to JAGPURR
Considering your gear box type is listed as
Gearbox: Manual 5 speed
I would say its not relevant to your car

Not relevant because the AL4 and the video is for the fully automatic - the PNDR type of selector.bidderman1969 wrote:not sure why it says manual, its a semi-auto !![]()

Sensodrive is an electronically controlled manual box, 'MA Pilote', flappy paddle amongst other names its given.
On the sensodrive the clutch solenoid is external to the gear box and not an internal component like the automatic solenoids that often fail.

so, is a "special tool" actually needed in the sensodrive box, when putting it back together?

For a sensodrive? No.
For an AL4 automatic? No, but look at the link further up the page.

right, this is really confusing me now.
my sensodrive box has that dreaded flashing snowflake and "N" symbols, so is repairing it all to do with the "electrovalves", and nothing to do with the guide show, as thats a fully auto version? or is it basically the same way to fix it?
<<<< "confused"
