I did a search but better ask the experts. I have a 2005 Pluriel with the Sensodrive transmission, which purchased last year. It seems to have been mainly driven by ladies, if that means anything. It has 96,000 kilometres on it, and the engine is great and I have done all the major service stuff (timing belt, water pump, etc), I have no complaints about the Sensodrive, operation, it's not a DCT but I can live with it. My big question is:
How long does, or can, the single disk clutch last, when controlled by the system as it is? It shows no issues so far, no shutter, slippage, etc that I can detect. Previous manual transmission single clutch vehicles I have owned, usually require a new clutch after about 120000kms. I would like to hear about life span of this clutch from Sensodrive owners.

Thanks
GD

Hi

I would say 200k miles or more for a clutch plate controlled by the robot . But it's not usually the plate friction material that fails on the sensodrive.

Thanks for that reassurance Arfur. I did run across some comments about European models having actuators failing due to corrosion in the exposed components at the front. Being an Australian delivered car, there is no risk of that. I have inspected the front of the transmission and it's all very clean, looks like it just came off the ship. So i will wait and see. I know one owner in Perth, Western Australia, that has an early Pluriel with 168000kms on it, on the original clutch. Encouraging.

What part of Aus are you from?

The clutch plate in the sensodrive is exactly the same as any other manual car. So it will last as long as any other manual clutch.
The question is; how was the car driven?
You are right, I would expect the clutch to last 'about' 100,000+ Km.
The clutch can be changed the same as any other clutch...but the clutch actuator is a problem. The actuator needs to be 'set' by a LEXIA or Diagbox scanner before removal. OR opened up and reset manually before re-installation. Otherwise the "wear compensator" won't work.
Fortunately there are a bazillion youtube videos on opening and resetting the actuator (mostly Russian!).
Any grease monkey can change the clutch, it's the actuator that trips them up.

But back to the lifespan of the clutch, how long is a piece of string? Just be prepared to change it when it needs changing.

Yes, I have looked at a few of those videos. I am amazed what some people can do in the freezing cold lying on a damp driveway. But then again I changed a Diahatsu Charade clutch in my driveway, when a much younger fellow. I have no service history, other than that provided in the maintenance stamps in the book, but as we know those stop after a while. I have to assume it has not already been changed, and from the state of the timing belt when I replaced the old one, I thing it is a reasonable assumption. Sadly, at my advanced age, I am getting beyond the DIY on something like that. Are there actually Citroen mechanics that do this work?

Lets face it, these are not high end collectable (yet, haha).

As to your question, I am at Lake Macquarie, NSW.

There are the dealers. And there are the odd independents here and there who trained in Europe.
You could get onto the "aussiefrogs" forum and ask around. They will quickly tell you who's good and who's bad in your area.

I'm in Brizzy, well, Ipswich actually.
