change maual gear box to an auto

What would i need, would it be an easy job. I have the chance of a very cheap "04" diesel but it has a manual box. Will need to swap it to an auto for my daughter

Hi deanno, there are 2 options for auto on the C3, the fully automatic (PRND) and the controlled clutch semi automatic with 'flappy paddles'.

Swapping out a manual gearbox and replacing it with either the computer controlled semi or auto is going to be a massive headache and very expensive. At least a new gearbox, gear control units, new gear box ECU, gear selectors, centre console and drive shafts, then getting the new computer to talk to the existing ECU would require a bit of time and a lot of knowledge on lexia system, assuming existing ECU could be reprogrammed to accept the new gearbox.

All for an 04 plate? It would be cheaper to buy an automatic C3 and use the profit from the sale of your cheap 04 manual C3 to help fund it.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Thought there would be a lot more to it. The last conversion i done was just a case of swapping the box over and the pedal box ass. But that was on a MK3 cortina
