Car Starts but not does not move. Auto Gearbox skips to 2nd

Citroen C3 1.4 HDI Sensodrive (54 Reg)

Dear All

I wish you all a Happy and Exciting New Year.


I am having trouble with my car. The car starts but I get the Snowflake sign and Auto flashing on my dashboard. The car will not go into 1st gear sometimes, it skips to 2nd gear and will not move when I accelerate. When it moves it moves a little like the hand brake is on.

Also the Auto switch light on the gearbox does not come on when car is started but the switch light comes on when igition is off.

When Auto switch light comes on if turns off as soon as the snowflake and Auto start flashing.

When car moves I sometimes hear a huge thud like there is something stuck under the car.

Please could someone let me know how to reset the gearbox so I can get my car to a workshop for repairs.

The car starts but I get the Snowflake sign and Auto flashing on my dashboard.
Snow flake and auto flashing are indicating a serious error.

Its the cars way of saying 'help me, don't drive me'. It needs a hook up to lexia or a visit to the dealer to find which code has caused the error and from then diagnose which part has brought that code up.

Please could someone let me know how to reset the gearbox so I can get my car to a workshop for repairs.
If there is a mechanical fault then resetting it won't fix anything and driving it will just cause more damage.

Banging, thuds, squealing, squeaking, knocking are all signs of mechanical problems rather than a locked up ECU.

Hi

Disconnect the battery for 15 mins
Reconnect then turn the ignition - do not turn the car on
- should appear. Press and hold the footbrake until the - goes

Your gearbox should now be synced however like c3owner said, any mechanical issue or thud needs to be looked at as syncing the gearbox won't solve it
