Hi
Where would I find what engine it is?
The engine type is the 6th,7th and 8th letters in your VIN. For example the engine in a car with the VIN beginning with VF7FCKFVE1234... is KFV.

Ive not tried the gearbox reset for fear of damaging it completely
Gearbox reset tells the sensodrive where things are. Clutch travel, gear selector positions, ETC. It's not uncommon for the sensodrive to get "confused and lost". Gearbox reset
may put it back on track. Gearbox reset is in the owners manual so I assume Citroen don't expect it to cause damage. No disrespect intended, but if you are not willing to "try stuff" take it to a professional and let them sort it out.
I would recommend a Peugeot dealer...yes Peugeot...as Citroen seem to be a bunch of muppets!
I completely sympathize that
you take the ultimate responsibility and it is not possible to hold us to account if things go wrong. So if you do not wish to take our advice, that's OK.
Seriously though, there isn't much you can do with the Sensodrive. The Clutch actuator causes 99% of failures and most of those failures are from salt ingress into the electrics. So the gearbox reset is the only thing the
average user can try before "seeking professional help".
