Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I have just bought a 04 plate Pluriel (UK), the car drives great, no warning lights and it's in great condition, however the small "auto" button next to the gear shift doesn't activate or deactivate the automatic mode, I can switch to manual via the flappy paddles (Sensodrive) but I can't switch back to auto unless I turn off the ignition.

Is this a major problem to fix? Cheers in advance

Well worth check the roof condition, hinges break and the roof just leaks. Buy on a wet day and look for water in the boot and wet carpets.

Pressing the button should take you back to automatic mode. It could be a faulty switch or wiring to the gearbox control unit. You can diagnose these faults (and the other electrical/computer problems) with the Lexia tool. There is a topic on the lexia tool here.

I don't know, but you could try swapping the switch out with another one, check the wiring to the gear computer (on the gear box) or test with lexia to see if the switch produces a signal at the computer.

Have you also tried forcing the car back into automatic mode (from manual) by not changing gear? The car should take control from you and change up or down, even if you are in manual mode if the car decides to.
