I recently purchased 2007 Citroen C3 (semi-automatic) with about 58K mileage. Faulty gearbox notification was displayed as soon as I reached home from the car dealer (driving about 70 miles). When the symbol had appeared, the car just jerked / jolted and wasn’t able to drive. But seems to drive fine now, apart from I have to accelerate hard to start moving (in the 1st gear). Seems to drive good from 2nd gear onwards.

I consulted a mechanic and he advised that if he faulty gearbox notification was displayed then there are chances of the fault returning. He also mentioned that there are higher chances for the fault to return after driving the car for about 1 hour (50 – 60 miles, when the engine is warm).

When I press brake I can hear air pressure release sound, is this normal?

I have already spoken to the dealer and he has asked me to get the car for checking. But I believe he may just say that there is no problem, the gearbox faulty symbol may have appeared once.
Any comments and suggestions would be helpful

Thanks

Hi Mas. If the dealer is happy to take it back for a free check, do that.

Hopefully they will connect to to diagnostics to read the code that brought up the light.

Then they will know what is wrong with it and offer to fix it?

Can you tell us what type of gearbox you have, or supply your VIN?
There are a number of models of transmissions installed in C3's over the years and each has there own quirks.
If you are not capable of repairing the gearbox yourself I would suggest you take it to an auto transmission expert.
